About the Event

Join us for an illuminating keynote by D. The Data Guy™. For Dei’Marlon “D” Scisney, data has never been just numbers, it’s a language that reveals the inequities communities face and a tool to dismantle them. As President of The Data Guys™, a now, 19-person data and AI engineering firm. He leads the design of equity-focused, regulatory-grade systems that have helped channel more than $400M into housing, business support, workforce, digital equity, sustainability, and community programs across Washington.

What to Expect

What Is AI (Really)?

AI: Myths, Meaning, and Making It Work

AI Unpacked: What It Means for Your Business

This session is an introduction to AI for small-business owners. We’ll break down what AI is, and isn’t, in simple terms, share safe practices, and highlight three easy ways it can save you time with everyday tasks like email, leads, and operations.

We’ll also launch a short survey during the luncheon to gather your input. The results will help shape February’s “What is AI?” workshop and future monthly sessions on topics such as Operations, Marketing, and Grant/RFP support with AI.

Short Bio – Dei’Marlon (DAY-MAR-LIN) “D” Scisney (SIS-Knee)

At the intersection of AI, justice, and community, D builds technology that doesn’t just describe problems but actively solves them, from predictive models tackling housing inequities to AI frameworks closing broadband gaps. His expertise in ethical AI and bias mitigation ensures machine learning works for people, not against them.

Beyond his firm, D serves on multiple boards, advises policymakers, and speaks nationally on the responsible use of AI. As the U.S. Lead for the Global Council for Responsible AI (GCRAI), he is helping craft an international ethical AI framework that guides governments, industries, and communities toward transparency, accountability, and equity in technology. His work has spanned broadband equity, environmental justice, and criminal justice reform, always with a single throughline: ensuring that technology advances human dignity and opportunity.

D embodies the belief that AI is only as powerful as the values it upholds, and he has built his career on ensuring those values center equity, transparency, and people first.
